April book club: Babette’s Feast

I confess to knowing next to nothing about Babette’s Feast.

Author Karen Blixen, who wrote under the pen name Isak Dinesen, is most famous for Out of Africa, which came up several times during our discussion about MFK Fisher earlier this month, but on April 9, we’ll talk about the story and movie behind Babette, a cook who spends a lottery winning on one big magnificent meal.

If you have time to read the book, great. If you have time to rent the movie, fantastic. If you want to get together with some really smart women (and sometimes men) and talk about women and literature (and movies, magazines, TV shows and pop culture in general), I hope you’ll join us Tuesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. at Elaine’s Pork and Pie, 2113 Manor Road.
