Sorry for the late notice on this, friends, but at 7 p.m. at BookPeople tonight, I’ll be interviewing Bob Spitz, who last year published “Dearie,” which might be the longest, most detailed Julia Child biography in history.
Although I wasn’t sure what else I could possibly learn about the famed cookbook author and television host, Spitz is an incredible storyteller and researcher and reading Julia’s story through his eyes is making me feel like I’m hearing it for the first time.
Spitz addresses feminism — and Julia’s unabashed self-confidence to be no one other than Julia — from the first pages of the book, and I look forward to talking with him about Julia’s role in the evolution of what it means to be a woman and a cook in America.
Would love to see some familiar faces there!
I wish I lived in Texas so I could go to this – I look forward to hearing more about the book.
Dang – if I didn’t have to work I’d be there for sure! Guess I’ll see you there Saturday though… right? Woohoo!
